Taxes & Reporting
Last updated 16 June 2026
A short notice about taxes on prizes. It is not tax or legal advice. Your tax situation depends on your own circumstances, and the rules for digital assets continue to develop. Please consult your own qualified tax advisor.
1. Prizes are generally taxable to you
In the United States, the value of a prize or award is generally treated as taxable income to the person who receives it. If you receive a prize from Charity Billionaire, you are responsible for determining, reporting, and paying any tax you owe on it under federal, state, and local law. Receiving a prize does not mean the tax has been handled for you. Because prizes are paid in a digital stablecoin, the amount and date you receive it may matter for your records — the IRS generally treats digital assets received as income at their fair value when received.
2. You will not receive a tax form from us
Charity Billionaire is an autonomous, non-custodial smart contract. It collects no personal information — participation is by self-custodied wallet only, with no name, address, or taxpayer ID ever requested or stored. You will not receive a Form 1099 or any other year-end tax form from us, and no tax is withheld from your prize. Not receiving a form does not change or reduce what you may owe; your obligation to report and pay tax exists whether or not any form is issued to you. Keep your own records of any prize you receive.
3. What this means for you
- Assume any prize you receive is taxable income unless your own advisor tells you otherwise.
- Keep your own records — amount and date — of any prize.
- Report and pay any tax you owe yourself, on time, under the rules that apply to you.
- If you are unsure, speak with a qualified tax professional before participating.
